Out Now – 15th October 2010

Friday at last! This has been a very busy week here at Mild Concern which is why the posts have been shorter than usual. This will all change next week when we hit the Film Festival hard and do so many reviews that Rotten Tomatoes will have to let us in. Regardless “The Film of the Year” is out today so get down to the cinema ASAP.

Despicable Me
An animated film about a criminal mastermind featuring the voices of everyone you’ve ever seen in an American sitcom and then some. The little yellow things look adorable, I’m tempted.

The Social Network
It really is worth the hype, Aaron Sorkin hasn’t written a film in far too long and he has really raised the bar. If you don’t see it prepare to feel left out around the water cooler. We’ve even gone and reviewed it!

Vampires Suck
The weak Twilight parody you’ve all been waiting for. At least this seems to stick with one film to spoof unlike recent ______ Movie releases so might be the best of a bad bunch. One thing’s for sure, the trailer has brought us three months of high visitors.

Aakrosh (limited release)
A Bollywood film tackling the issue of honour killings. I think it may still have singing and dancing… and gore.

Knock Out (limited release)
All I can gather from IMDb is that this is an Indian action film. Way to go Eros distribution for failing to even have a synopsis on the internet.

Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow (limited release)
I don’t think i can put it better than this, “The film bears witness to German artist Anselm Kiefer’s alchemical creative processes and renders as a film journey the personal universe he has built at his hill studio estate in the South of France.” Mostly because I don’t really understand it.

Vampires Suck – Trailer Dissection

A bad trailer this week for a parody, and I use the term loosely, of Twilight called Vampires Suck. The film follows in the fashion of the later Scary Movies and their offspring in looking unfunny and lacking any wit. Waht happened to the Airplanes and Top Secrets of satire?

Watch the trailer below then come inside as I show you precisely why this film will be bad as I strive to create “original content”.

And now let’s get our teeth stuck in… (ahahahaha) Continue reading
